I really like pita chips, so I thought that I`d like Kashi`s new Pita Crisps. They contain seven different grains (some of which are whole). The calorie count is 80 for seven crisps (just a bit over 10 calories per crisp).
My first impression was that these are a lot thicker than pita chips. They`re definitely more of a cracker, and are crunchy rather than light and crispy. They have a good amount of salt (not too much or too little), but are too sweet for a savory snack, in my opinion. The sweetener used in these crisps is evaporated cane juice, which is supposed to be "healthier" than refined sugar, but I`d rather not have any sweetener in this crisps at all! If I want something salty, I want something salty - not salty with side of sweet, lol.
These crisps are okay, but I far prefer pita chips made from real pitas. For me, these are too thick, and I don`t like that they`re sweet. I think you`d be better off making your own pita chips by just throwing some torn-up pita bread in the oven for a few minutes. It`s cheaper and way yummier!
