So recently, me and a friend just got some Julep Maven boxes. I got the American Girl box and she got the Classic with a Twist box. This polish Anne is from the Classic with a Twist, and they describe it as "Ultra-saturated violet. A tribute to one of our beautiful celebrity guests! Eye-catching on a pedicure and head-turning on a manicure--especially if your wardrobe is heavy on blacks and neutrals." It`s pretty opaque. One coat gets a nice base of color, and looks like it doesn`t even need a second coat. It is true to the color you see in the bottle. For some reason, my camera just didn`t pick up much of the purple, in person it is MUCH more violet than the picture. The flash picture is a much better representation of the color, but still kind of off.
Now onto the actual polish. What I found with these intro boxes are that some of these polishes aren`t actually new. Out of the two boxes between my friend and I, only one of my polishes was sealed in plastic. This leads me to believe the others were returned polishes. Now, that would explain the consistency of this polish. I`ve read reviews about how this polish was high quality, and on the high end of the spectrum, so I wasn`t expecting the goopy mess I got. You know how you do the 3 strokes, then smooth it down the middle? Well this polish was so annoying because it dried so quickly you couldn`t smooth out the polish, and you were left with these weird vertical bumps of nail polish. It was ugly. Luckily my topcoat saved my manicure... kind of, I need to make another post about my love/hate relationship with Seche Vite.
Fun part now, YOU can get a Julep Maven box too! They are having this promotion where everyone get to buy their intro box for only $0.01! The code is COLOR2012 . So yeah, just click on the link below, and take this quiz that tells you what style you fit in.
