At my school, I decided to take Jewelry Design as an elective this year. I have really loved making my own jewelry in the past, so I thought taking a class that would help expand my knowledge would be awesome!
Our first project was a cut and pierce project. This is my final result! I decided to use brass for my metal, and my design is a script M and D, for my initials! I`m thinking about adding a dainty gold chain and looking it through the little hole at the top of the M.
Now let me tell you, this was actually pretty difficult to make! First we had to draw out design on a piece of paper, use rubber cement to stick it to the metal, drill holes, saw the design out of the metal, sand it, sand it some more, then finally buff it!
The sanding was probably to most tedious part. It took me like a week to fully sand both sides. My teacher was very impressed with the results though, he said because of that I ended up having the shiniest piece in the class! It`s a little scratched now from taking it home, but I can just take it back to school and buff it again and it`ll be good as new!
I`m really happy with how this project turned out, and I can`t wait to make more this semester!!
What do you think of my design? Have you ever made your own jewelry?
