Hello lovelies, I`m back with part two of my January favorites: skin care!! The winter time is when I focus the most on skincare because my skin loves to throw temper tantrums when it is cold, crisp, and windy outside! Not to mention, where I live, it has alternated between biting cold and unseasonable warm, so my skin just doesn`t know what the heck to do! LOL.
Anyway, here are my favorites! Keep in mind my skin type is slightly unusual. I have VERY dry skin (even in summer, but worse in winter!), the occasional zit or two, sensitivity, and rosacea. So most of my skin care products focus on hydration and being gentle, as well as sun protection because my skin doesn`t need any more damage!
1. H2O+ Shimmering Body Souffle in Grapefruit-Bergamot
As you can tell, I`ve used quite a bit of this lotion up, and I`ve only had it for a month! This lotion is amazing for many different ways. First of all, I love citrus scents because they are clean, crisp, and wake me up in the morning after my shower! This lotion is thick enough for my thirsty skin, but has a lot of slip to it so that it spreads quickly across my body, which is great when I`m in a hurry to get ready for class! It has a very subtle shimmer to it, which isn`t noticeable or garish but perks up your skin a bit. I love that for my neck and chest area. This lotion can be found at H2O Plus retail stores, http://www.h2oplus.com, and Ulta, and I`ve also seen H2O Plus products at Marshall`s.
2. Dove Winter Care Body Wash
This body wash has been an absolute dream come true. It is so rich and creamy that I can feel my skin being super nourished. It smells wonderful and lathers so nicely. I use the Dove Nutrium Moisture body washes year-round, but this one takes it up a notch for the wintertime. Best thing is, I was able to get this body wash at Costco! I love buying beauty products in bulk at Costco because you save so much money!
3. Boots No. 7 Soft & Soothed Gentle Toner
Before this toner, I was literally afraid of them. I had never had a good experience with toner; they always left my face dry and flaming red. However, I always felt like I needed an extra cleansing step to remove all of my makeup and allow my pores to be deep cleaned without harsh exfoliating, so I picked up this toner at Target because it looked promising. Boy, am I glad I did! This toner is excellent at removing dirt and leftover makeup, and leaves my face feeling exceptionally hydrated and truly clean. I can also tell that my moisturizer can sink in more effectively after I`ve toned my skin with this stuff. It was also very affordable, I believe it was $7.99 at Target. Highly recommended for dry-skinned gals, your skin will thank you!
4. Neutrogena On the Spot Acne Treatment
Now, I don`t have terrible acne. I get the monthly zit, if you all catch my drift. However, this month there was something in my routine that was beginning to break me out (I have yet to figure it out!), and I needed some quick zit help. Neutrogena to the rescue! This stuff is concentrated and turned my zits into whiteheads overnight, and in all diminished the healing time in half. I cannot attest to its ability to fight more recurrent or widespread acne, but for my occasional zits this is awesome.
5. Neutrogena Intensified Day Moisture with SPF 15
I love Neutrogena moisturizers in general, and in high school (when my skin was not as finicky) I used the moisturizer for Combination Skin and absolutely loved it. After finishing off my Garnier moisturizer (that I had a love-hate relationship with), I picked up this baby to give my skin a pick-me-up. It is very intense moisture, which is awesome, but it also doesn`t leave me feeling super oily, which is a bonus. I also love that it has SPF in it, because this is a huge deal-breaker for me! The only thing I do not like is that it is in a jar instead of a pump; I always make sure to have clean fingers before using it but I still always think it is unhygienic. But I`m willing to deal with it because it works SO well! I bought this at CVS for around $10.
That concludes my skin care favorites for January! I hope this was helpful to you Luuuxers who struggle with winter skin problems!
