I remember going to a restaurant once and on that day with every meal you ordered, they would give you a free loaf of bread! I ordered a meal and got to choose from a list of different breads. One name that stuck out to me was the Irish Soda Bread. I had never heard of it before then and I was quite interested in what it looked and tasted like. I ordered it and the waitress for it for me. The bread I got was a small loaf. It had dried fruit in it and the bread tasted different. It had sort of an acidic taste to it and I liked it a lot!!
I went online a few weeks ago and found a recipe for the Irish soda bread. It seemed simple enough and I really wanted to make it!
4 cups flour
2 Tbsp sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 Tbsp butter
3/4 cup raisins
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 3/4 cups buttermilk
Then you just mix everything together, place it in the oven at 450 for about 35 minutes and you take it out. Sadly, my bread came out looking nothing like the picture, but it tasted super good! It tasted different than what I got at the restuarant, but it wasn`t bad. I think it tasted better! I want to make this bread again! It`s so tasty and so easy to make. I think I have a new lunch!
