The Spanish national team were not at their best against China, in the latest friendly, in Sevilla. Vicente del Bosque`s men won 1-0, but there were some slightly disturbing signs on display, so soon before the opening game in the European Championship against Italy.
It wasn`t until the 84th minute that the only goal of the game arrived. Iniesta came up with one of his own particular moves, sweeping past as many Chinese players that tried to get in his way; his pass serving Silva`s goal on a plate, having only to push the ball into the back of an empty goal-mouth.
The Chinese side, with Spanish manager José Antonio Camacho in charge, surprised Spain`s boys in red (though tonight wearing light blue) in the first half, having a number of very clear chances of goal. One of these was only frustrated when Iker Casillas managed to avoid the score going to 0-1 by saving a very close shot from Zhi, with his foot.
The Spanish side had no clear ideas in attack during the first half, with Negredo throwing away the best chance of scoring. The defence did not look too steady either, allowing the Chinese to get through on a number of occasions, which they almost took full advantage of.
Valdés, Navas, Iniesta and Torres came on in the second half. The picture changed, and Spain began to attack and play much more incisively. Both Iniesta and Silva severely tested Chinese goalkeeper Cheng. After that, Albiol and Iniesta hit the post inside a minute.
