Indian Food Garlic Naan and Shrimp Sizzler
My sister had an Indian roommate in her dorm while she was away for uni, so she developed a taste for Indian food, based on all the dishes her friend would prepare.
Now that she is back home, she misses some of the Indian dishes she got used to eating with her friend and insisted we go check out a super popular Indian restaurant down the street from our house. Im always excited to try to things when it comes to food, so I was happy to go with her.
I ended up ordering a Shrimp Sizzler. This had another Indian name, but the English translation simply said Shrimp Sizzler. Basically it was 6 huge jumbo shrimp sitting on a bed of carrots and shredded cabbage topped with braised onions. The reason its called a sizzler is because it is cooked on a small cast iron plate that is brought to the table while still super hot, so the food is still sizzling away as it is served to you!
The shrimp was marinated in this curry marinade (which I guess is sort of typical of Indian cuisine) and was absolutely delish!
My sister ordered the chicken tikka masala, but I forgot to take a picture of her dish.
Instead of getting rice as a side, we decided to get an order of naan bread, which is a traditional Indian bread similar to a pita. The waiter suggested to try their garlic naan bread which the restaurant is famous for and it was definitely the highlight of the meal!
It arrived hot on the table and the garlic taste wasnt too overpowering. Instead it went great with the food we ordered.
I think my sister and I will be back at this restaurant soon, even if it is just for that fantastic bread!!!
