One of my friends and I were hoping to get together for brunch last weekend, but we both got delayed and ended up looking for a good lunch spot instead. We decided to go to Il Fornello, which is a popular Italian restaurant chain, and ended up choosing their Prix Fixe menu.
Basically, if you don`t know what `prix fixe` means, the menu allows you to choose from a list of appetizers and a list of entrees for a fixed price. You can`t get a better deal, since the price is set at 17 dollars which is pretty decent for 2 courses.
I ended up choosing the Arancini, which is balls of rice, usually stuffed with either meat or cheese (or both), and later fried. These had cheese mixed with the rice so you got some cheese in every bite. It. Was served with some delicious scratch made marinara sauce. The outside was not as crunchy as I would have hoped, but it was still delicious.
And since they have a wood fired oven, I decided to choose one of their pizzas. The one I chose had caramelized onions, grape tomatoes and blue cheese with pieces of steak. The crust was amazing and crisp, which was great to hold up the plethora of toppings.
It was deceptively big, so even after sharing with my friend, I had more than a quarter to take home to my brother.
I hadn`t been to Il Fornello in the longest while, but I feel like I will be back there soon :)
