I guess when people post in Places, they want to showcase where to visit or where they`ve been.
However, this is different. When I saw the news article, my heart broke. =(
Marineland is a popular tourist attraction at Niagara Falls, Ontario. It`s the sole "aquarium" that Ontario does have and most tourists do go there when they visit the Falls.
I also wanted to go there this summer and was planning a trip there with my boyfriend. When I read this article this morning, I decided to cancel it altogether.
These animals are suffering and it`s unfair to them because there`s no escape. They`re only there to satisfy us wanting to see marine animals.
It`s unfair that, while tickets are upwards from $50/adult, it doesn`t seem like any money goes towards the care of these animals.
If the attraction doesn`t generate revenue, maybe it will shut down and the animals will be transferred to better conditions at other zoos around the world.
So I`m hoping, for anyone visiting Toronto, please don`t come here and see these animals suffering. =( It`s really sad.
