Yesterday was my husband`s 30th birthday. Instead of being in San Francisco to celebrate this special occasion we canceled the trip due to work-related issues, we spent the evening at home dining on some sub-par Italian food. Awhile back Groupon had a special going for this restaurant near our home and I purchased it. We ended dining there, Marcello. My husband had chicken with minced pancetta tomato cream sauce topped with sauteed mushroom with two sides of sauteed spinach and roasted red potatoes. The chicken was not dried, but the sauce was too salty for my taste. I wasn`t sure if they added too much salt or if it was the pancetta. It was an interesting dish. My husband liked the chicken, but said the spinach tasted rotten and slimy. I ended up ordering gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce. It was my first time having gnocchi. Gnocchi are potato dumplings that are boiled in water and cooked in sauce. My dish also had spinach and sun-dried tomato topped with bread crumbs. I happened to like my dish, but I wasn`t able to eat my entire meal. It was too many dumplings.
The overall experienced at this restaurant was okay. I don`t think we would go back unless there was a Groupon or living-social deal. They used waay too much salt in their cooking.
Q: Have you ever had gnocchi dumplings?
