I never tried this but my grandma told me that her mother used to make rose jam. I don`t know if it`s the same recipe but it sounds interesting.
- 1/2 pound of rose petals
- 2 cups of sugar
- 4 1/2 cups of water
- juice of 1/2 of a lemon
1. Wash the rose petals REALLY well. Cut them, but not into too small pieces so they don`t lose the juice.
2. Mix the chopped petals with 2/5 of the sugar and the lemon juice. Knead them well with your hands until they let out their flavor.
3. Heat up the water with the rest of the sugar and add the mixed petals, lemon juice and sugar to it. Let it boil until you get thick syrup. Remove it from the fire and leave it to cool off for 10 minutes.
4. Pour the marmalade in clean, lukewarm jar. Close the jar while the marmalade is still warm and keep it in a dry, dark place.
There are a lot of other versions for this, I think this one works too, but I honestly don`t know. I found it in a fun book I used to read when I was younger.
I WILL try to make this soon, so don`t worry. You just need to make sure you washed the petals well and the rest is completely okay.
