Break-ups, frenemies, and crappy bosses. Whatever the cause, we all have our bad days. When I`m down I have a few things that I do that always seem to pick me up.
1) Cut off all other human contact for no more than a day. When I`m upset one of the best things I do for myself is to spend time alone. Not only does it give me time to sulk it also stops me from taking out my bad mood out on others around me. So turnoff your phone and computer and lock your door for some quality time with yourself. Hear that? It`s called silence!
2) Watching movies is a great way to distract yourself from the problems in your life. Usually in this situation I watch a combination of sad and comedy movies. Sometimes you need to just let it out and cry and what better excuse to use than a sob story. After all that silver screen drama you definitely need a laugh to cheer yourself up after you get rid of all that pent up emotion. Some of my favorite movies to watch are:
Sad: Titanic, What`s Eating Gilbert Grape, Pearl Harbor, Selena, and Cruel Intentions.
Comedy: Bridesmaids, The Hangover, Clerks, Shaun of the Dead, The Jerk, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
3) Write it out. Write a journal entry, short story, or bad poetry, about your awful day or experience. You`ll find that you feel a lot better and it will be easier to work through your problems.
4) Go for a walk outside by yourself, or with a friend. After wallowing in your problems take this time to move past them and enjoy the great things around you.
