Whole Wheat Pesto pasta is absolutely amazing! We picked up some whole wheat pasta from Trader Joe`s to try, it has slightly less carbs and is a lot lower in sugar compared to other pasta types. I find that the whole wheat pasta can have this really gritty taste, so you actually have to cook it a little bit longer to get that perfect soft, but still chewy pasta noodles. It took about 14 minutes to cook the pasta, then I drained the water, and mixed in some olive oil and pesto sauce. Stirred it in the pot for about a minute, and then it was ready to serve. I topped it with some aged parmesan cheese, which adds some extra flavor to the pasta! This was a really delicious lunch, and I highly recommend making your own pesto pasta at home. It`s easy, delicious, and great for packing up in your kid`s lunches as well. If you ever packed pasta for lunch, you`ll know that it can get soggy and gross after a few hours, but with this pesto pasta, it`s more dry, doesn`t have a lot of sauce, so it will still taste great by the time you open up your lunch at noon. The pasta was about $2, the cheese was $5, and the pesto sauce was $3. All these ingredients can be found at Trader Joe`s!
