This is my kind of grilled cheese sandwich, completely healthy and yummy =)
I made this as a surprise for my boyfriend when he was late coming home from work one night. We don`t live together, but he comes over to stay a night or two during the weekends. It takes him about 1 1/2 hrs to drive to my condo from his home. So I always try to surprise him here and there =)
The good thing is, he eats a lot so making him food is always the safest bet.
Since it was late, I wanted him to eat something healthier but still had a fatty taste to it, so I made him one of my grilled cheese sandwiches.
I used two slices of Dempster`s 12 Grain Harvest Bread, which has 4g of fibre in every slice. I then used reduced fat cheddar cheese to help cut back on the fat and calories. I grilled the bread with the cheese, 1 piece of cheese per slice of bread. I used PAM rather than butter. I added 2 pieces of fresh romaine lettuce, 2 slices of Black Forest Ham for taste and 1/2 a Roma tomato inbetween and then retoasted it.
He seemed to enjoy it a lot and it did keep the boy quite full and satisfied =)
What do you guys think of my grilled cheese? Though it`s more of a full-blown sandwich =P
