I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I saw many people post about Red Velvet cupcakes and cakes, read peoples comments on how much they love it, and I also seen cooks talk about it on cooking shows ((Cake Boss))..
Because of this I really wanted to make a Red Velvet Cake, you know those mixes you can get from supermarkets. I recently was a perfect time to do it. There was a half price sale on a brand that had red velvet.. I`m not too keen on the brand but it was on sale so I bought this and a banana cupcake mix.. I only don`t like it because you have to make the icing instead of it being ready to serve stuff. LOL i`m lazy.
I`m happy with how it turned out but there was like only one downside to it. In the middle of making it I realised that we didn`t have any milk so I shoved the cake mix in the fridge and quickly went to Woolworths and got some. I think leaving it in the fridge was a mistake because it did not rise. It rose a little but not a lot. What a bummer but it still tasted great! And also the icing was a little soft as you can see and sticky. This is another reason why I don`t like this brand, I HATE their icing..
Now that I have had Red Velvet for the first time I really don`t see what all the fuss is about. I mean like it looks good, because of the colour but that`s about it. I`m not a huge fan of the taste BUT I do like it.. I will definitely make some again... but maybe try a online recipe or another brand to see if it tastes any better. :)
DO YOU LIKE RED VELVET CAKE/CUPCAKE??? DO YOU LOVE BAKING???
