Today I made chocolate ice cream using 2 ziplock bags. It`s super easy and pretty quick. You can tell it`s not as fattening as regular ice cream with heavy whipping cream. It`s not as creamy.. it`s more icy. It`s still really good, though. And the taste reminds me of a Wendy`s Frosty.
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- a bit of flavoring (OPTIONAL) I used about 2 teaspoons of unsweeted cocoa powder. You can also use a splash of chocolate syrup or even strawberry syrup. Just don`t add too much or else it`ll stay liquefied)
If you don`t want to add the flavoring, it`ll be vanilla ice cream. :)
You`re going to put all of those ingredients into a sandwich size ziplock bag and zip it up. Try to get most of the air out.
Then you`re going to get a bigger (gallon size or so) ziplock bag and put some ice (maybe 1/4 of the bag full) and put some salt in it (rock salt would work best, but regular table salt fine, too). Put the sandwich bag (the bag with the mixture) in the bigger bag (with the ice) and close the bag. Then shake it for about 10-15 minutes or until the ice cream is solidified or thick enough to your liking. Take the bag out and eat. :)
This is great if you only want a little bit of ice cream or want a healthier substitute for the ice cream. It doesn`t take as long as if made from an actual ice cream maker (but you probably get more in that) and this is fun to do with your friends or family. I did this in chemistry class yesterday and it was a lot of fun to do with my friends.
I hope this works out for you guys. If you don`t understand my directions (Sorry, I`m bad at explaining stuff), you can always youtube it. I`m pretty sure that they`ll have a video on it.
Good luck! :)
