Last week I decided to make guacamole at home. Avocados were on sale at the grocery store so why not? :) I didn`t follow a specific recipe but I looked up a bunch and combined a few ingredients from all the recipes. I used to make guacamole with Tostitos or any brand of corn chips. However, I noticed pita bread was on sale so I decided to use that instead. I wasn`t too sure how to make the pita bread into chips but I used /member/nina-tang recipe on pita chips. I cut the pieces of pita into triangles. Then, I brushed a bit of olive oil and sprinkled some salt. The pieces went into the oven for about 10 minutes at 380F. However, you can just bake them until they are crispy. These pita chips are so much healthier than store bought chips. They are 100% whole wheat and baked :) As for the guacamole, I used minimal and very simple ingredients: - avocados - tomatoes - garlic, lemon juice, salt I mashed up the avocados and added in some tomatoes. To add flavor, I used my garlic masher to put in about 3 pieces of garlic in it. Also, I used salt and lemon juice to preserve the guacamole for a day or so. I will definitely be making this again! I love the way guacamole tastes and it fills me up for so long! Also, there is less guilt because I`m not eating actual chips hehe. Thoughts? Do you like to make guacamole at home? *picture is my own*
