Homemade Fresh Donuts

Finally I`ve taken the plunge to make my own donuts. I`ve had this recipe written down in my recipe book for a while now and just taken the plunge to make some yesterday. It was kinda scary reading the directions on how to make them and thought that it was gonna be way too hard. But it`s actually not. The thing is that it`s just a bit time consuming but hey, it`s totally worth the while.
These donuts were actually pretty easy to make. I just put everything in my stand mixer and let it mix for me. Then I just let the dough proof and it tripled in size. Cut out the donuts and let it proof again before frying. Then I coated it with some sugar and voila, you got yourself a sugar coated donut. Those are my favorite. Of course you can top it with any topping of your preference. Since I made these at night, I didn`t really have time to make different kinds of toppings for them. Next time when I`m more prepared, I`ll make some chocolate glaze and maple glaze and sprinkle with some sprinkles too.
They didn`t take to long to fry too. But you really have to watch them cause they brown kinda fast and you don`t want to let them burn. For me, this recipe made almost 3 dozen donuts. I think I`ll halve the recipe next time so I don`t end up some so much even though I know they will be eaten.
They are really close to those store bought donuts you usually get in your local bakery or grocery store. My husband says that it tastes better than the store bought ones. My kids have already requested to have me pack some for their snack for school..lol.. kids and their sugar cravings..lol..

The only thing I did different from the recipe was that I didn`t make the glaze that was on the recipe. I just coated mine with sugar.
