Homemade Dumplings: Pork, Carrot, and Shrimp!

If done right, everything tastes better homemade. I made some dumplings with my friend and her family, and these are absolutely delicious! The store bought ones can`t even compare. It`s really simple to make and is kind of way to bring the family together because most meals are generally a 1-2 person job, but with something like this everyone can get involved.

For the dough, it`s a simple mixture of flour, egg, and a pinch of salt. The amount will depend on how many dumplings you want to make. We made about 80-100, they`re small, so this can feed a family of 4-5, but if you have teenage boys then that`s a whole different story, an average teenage boy can eat 100 dumplings! For the interior part, you can use whatever meat you want, we used pork, carrots, with some shrimp.

To make these, one person can roll out the dough into flat circles, and the rest can wrap the dumplings. Wrapping a dumpling is really simple once you get the hang of it. You`ll want to hold your hand in a curved shape, like when you hold a taco, place the flat circle dough on your hand, add some meat, then fold one of the edges the same way you would wrap a present, then press together, pinch the edges tightly, and then fold in the opposite edge the same way you did the first one. This should create a nice curve for your dumplings. Place the dumplings on a metal sheet. You can put these in the freezer and cook them later or you can just cook them instantly.

Just boil some water and cook for about 10-15 minutes and you`re done. These taste best with some dumpling sauce, which is just soy sauce and vinegar.
