After pho last night, my boyfriend and I came home and he was still hungry (though he had a large pho).
And I was a bit hungry as well so we decided to make some Asian dessert.
The sesame dumplings were from my mum`s freezer. She loves dumplings. These were the extra mini ones that are the size of a fingernail. Inside the rice flour dumpling, there is a nice wallop of sesame paste. Once boiled, you have a chewy dessert that`s also gooey on the inside. Though you might want to eat less of it as it is about 400 calories per 100 grams and 100 grams is about 10 dumplings, which you can easily eat!
We also made our own dessert soup. Dessert soup in Cantonese is called "Tong Sui". The main ingredient is usually rock sugar rather than cane or white sugar. Rock sugar gives off a milder sweet taste that`s more earthy and makes the water yellow. We made our own for the dumplings with rock sugar and red dates.
I ate 2 dumplings and he ate about 20 dumplings! I`m glad he didn`t get a stomachache later.
Have you guys tried Chinese Sesame Dumplings?
