Every year I make homemade fudge for family and friends to give as a homemade gift. Since we had a big bucket of pretzel rods we were given, I decided to also make chocolate covered pretzels. I picked up some milk chocolate almond bark at the grocery store and off and running I went. These were seriously the easiest things to make. It took longer to clean the bowl (because the chocolate had hardened into the bowl) than it did to dip and sprinkle the colored sprinkles onto the pretzels.
I made two separate batches melting half the milk chocolate almond bark in the microwave until it was melted and able to be blended smooth. I then dipped my pretzels into the chocolate, let it dribble off and laid it onto wax paper to harden. When the chocolate was still melty I sprinkled it with round decorative sprinkles. When they were fully hardened I then put 3 pretzel rod sticks into a bag and sealed them shut. All family and friends that I saw on Christmas Eve got a bag of pretzels along with a bag of fudge which Ill feature another post on.
Have you ever made chocolate covered pretzels at home?
