I had posted, well over a year ago, about chicken and dumplin`s that my mom makes from scratch. It is a family recipe that has been passed down from my great grandmother. Growing up, my mom would make this meal at special occasions. Typically, it was something reserved for around Christmas. We always looked forward to having it. It takes quite a long time to make, which is why she reserved it for 1-2 times a year at special times.
I have made it before but never made the noodles/dumplins. I would buy the frozen packages of noodles from the grocery in place of those because I always thought they`d be too hard to make. I have been very mislead. LOL! Yes, the whole meal is very time consuming but it has very few ingredients and definitely worth taking the time to make. And make EVERYTHING from scratch.
In total, the only things I used to make this meal were: flour, eggs, salt, water, a whole chicken (the neck and innards that they stuff inside removed and thrown away... I don`t use those...blech), carrots, celery, parsley, garlic salt, pepper, celery salt.
Now that I know I can make this and make it just the way that has been in the family for years... I`ll be doing it more often! :-) I think my making this and being willing to do so from scratch as it was intended...would make my great grandmother proud.
