Its apple season! A family friend who has apple trees gave me a bag full of apples and Ive been having apples nonstop lately. Between eating the apples raw and putting them in my green smoothies, yesterday I thought Id bake something using them! It was perfect too because I still has leftover store bought pie crust from when I made mini apple pies last week (WHICH i HAVE A POST ON!). Of course I took it to pinterest to see what I can make with apples and one leftover round pie crust. I came across this recipe that one of my friends pinned and it was for individual cinnamon apple tarts. I did tweak the recipe a bit since I wasnt making it individuals since I only had one pie crust so I made it into a larger round tart. I assembled the apple in a circle which formed and looked like a rose which I thought was cute. When I arranged the apples I did leave a one inch border around the crust and then folded it over the apples once I was done arranging the apples. I baked it according to the recipe but another thing I added that wasnt on the recipe was the glaze on top which make the tart look shiny and glossy and I did that just by heating up some strawberry jam in the microwave and then brushed it over the whole thing after baking. This was the first time I made this and I am quite impressed with! It turned out really good, it was the perfect proportion between apple and crust and it was fairly easy to make. Ill definitely be making this for the holidays! Recipe down below as well as the recipe for my mini apple pies!
