Have you ever got Paronychia? Paronychia is an infection that happens along the edge of a fingernail or toenail. The infection happens when an ingrown skin/nail (the infection) gets underneath your nail which causes the skin to become inflamed (an example in photo 3). My paronychia happened because I had a skin that grew underneath my nail bed and caused irritation. But paronychia can occur from washing your hands often, bitting you nails, getting your nails done, etc.
When you get paronychia you can immediately feel the pain. It doesn`t get inflamed immediately so once you feel it, treat it as soon as possible. I had this same incident a year ago and did not know how to cure it and left it alone thinking it`d heal by itself. A week later, my finger was inflamed like photo 3 and I had to go to Urgent Care because I could no longer take it anymore. The doctor used a scalpel knife, made a slit by my nail bed and squeezed out all the pus!
How to cure Paronychia before it gets too late?
1. Soak your finger in HOT water and massage your finger
2. I used Dial Soap & a brush in hot water to clean the affected area
3. I applied Triple Antibiotic on the affected area and used a bandaid to lightly cover my nail
4. Repeat the steps and if your finger has pus/white stuff, squeeze all the germs out!
