I was reading in the paper on the way to work today about the Holi Festival or Festival of Colors. It is a festival celebrated in India and Hindu countries to welcome Spring and a celebration of the triumph of good over evil. People playfully splash colorful paint, colored powders, dyes and water onto each other. In earlier times the colours and dyes of Holi were all naturally-based ayurvedic herbal remedies which helped to cleanse the spirit and improve the health, but now artificial colorants are used and this could be problematic to one`s health. I love the way the festical looks with all of the bright vibrant colors, but I would be concerned with inhaling the colored powder. I`d wear a mask to be safe. It does look like a tonne of fun though :)
Have you ever participated in a holi festival?
Is it something you`d like to attend?
Would you wear a face mask in fear the colored powders would be harmful if ingested?
