This is a his & her lunch special from last weekend: Fried Chicken Strips w/ Jo-Jos & Pepperoni Pizza! After running a few errands and on our drive back to the hotel, my boyfriend and I stopped at this little country store. I`ve been there in the past so I knew what it was like inside. From the outside, the spot looks like a mini gas station (4 pumps). When you go inside it`s a mini convenience store with sodas, chips, snacks, candy, hot coffee, fresh donuts, etc. To the left is a fully functional smaller kitchen where the shop hired on a guy full-time to bring a little start up business into the store. The main item people typically go for is the fried chicken strips with jo-jos (large potato wedges). They`re broasted, meaning they are fried, but in such a way where the moisture is kept inside the pan making the chicken retain its moisture, making it a very moist and juicy chicken. I got my boyfriend 3 chicken strips and jo-jos which was $3.50 - he had never had them before and he quite enjoyed his meal. I on the other hand got a slice of pepperoni pizza. I`ve had this shops pizza before and I think it`s really delicious -- the crust is slightly thicker but it`s VERY soft and it`s got an extra generous helping of cheese on it. Any slice of pizza -- regardless of the topping (sausage, pepperoni, cheese, etc.) is $1.69. As I recalled from the past, the slice was just as yummy as it has been in the past.
Have you found any spots that provide food where you weren`t quite expecting it?
Have you ever had jo-jos?
