I`ve had a lot of experiences in chopping my hair off, wishing it was long and growing it back out again. Right now I`m growing my hair out from a pixie cut! I just thought I would share a few tips on how I`ve grown my hair out in the past, and what I`m doing to grow it out now!
Biotin: This vitamin helps synthesize many of the necessary components for hair, nails and skin! I first learned about this supplement in high school when I got a horrible hair cut and was scared I wouldn`t be able to grow it out in time for an up-do for Prom. One of my mom`s co-workers swore by this, so I tried it and it worked! Hair grows about half an inch a month and mine grew about 3/4 of an inch per month! Sounds like a small amount, but every little bit counts! I also learned a bit about this vitamin in my BioChem class :3 *
Fish Oil: This supplement is supposedly great for keeping a healthy heart, but I`ve also heard that omega-3`s can help keep your hair glossy and healthy as well! A great alternative for vegans would be flax seed oil which has these same fatty acids. *
Daily Vitamins: I figure why not give your whole body all of vitamins and minerals it needs? If your whole body isn`t functioning up to par, why would it waste important energy and nutrients to grow healthy, strong hair or keep it from falling out? *
Calcium: This is another tip from one of my mom`s coworkers. Her friend had been suffering from hair loss and once she started taking calcium supplements it stopped. I don`t suffer from hair loss, but I figure it can`t hurt to take calcium to prevent it and maybe even strengthen my hair.
Treatments: * I always use a
moisturizing shampoo when I`m growing my hair out! You don`t want to waste all of that time waiting for beautiful hair just to have split ends and scraggles do you? One shampoo that I really like is the
Suave Naturals Almond and Shea Butter shampoo and conditioner. You can check out my review of them /viz/almond-shea-shampoo-conditioner *
Deep conditioning! Yet another way to prevent split ends! I`ve heard a lot of great things about Aussie`s 3 Minute Miracle, but I have yet to try it. I use the deep conditioners from Clariol`s Natural Instincts hair color sets and they work like a charm. * Don`t mess around with your hair
too much! Straightening, pulling it out of ponytail holders etc. can break it and cause split ends! Hopefully this info was helpful to you all! You can find most of these items at your local drugstore :3 Just a heads up: I am
NOT a doctor! I`m just sharing what has worked for my from
my own experience! Please consult your physician or pharmacist before starting any supplements! Photos and information are my own.
