Hi everyone! There have been a lot of new and exciting drugstore products popping up at the drugstore lately and when I heard about these new L`Oreal palettes they definitely piqued my interest and I had to know more about them. I haven`t had the best luck when it comes to L`Oreal eyeshadows (except the Infallibles, which I love), so I needed to read/see people`s reviews on this palettes before running out to buy them. Needless to say, most of the reviews were positive, so I took to hunting these down at every CVS a reasonable distance from my home until I found them. I probably looked like a crazy person visiting the same CVS`s week after week, but I was a woman on a mission!
These are the new L`Oreal La Nude palettes, and they have been making their way around the beauty community as one of the latest additions to the entire `nude eyeshadow crazy.` I am a neutrals girl myself so the La Nude Palette 1 was definitely calling my name, and I picked up the second one just because I`m getting into mauves and purples.
As far as drugstore products go these are pretty expensive: they are about $15 at Target and Walmart and a whopping $20 at stores like CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid and Ulta. Drugstores will typically have sales like BOGO 50%, or 30% or 40% sales from time to time so it will definitely be worth it to wait for something like that to come around before jumping on these. They aren`t limited edition so there`s no rush. However, I had a bunch of coupons and things expiring at CVS hence the mad dash for about two weeks looking for these babies.
I managed to find these at a CVS near my work place, which I visited after work, and it turned out that the cashier had just put them out that day so I quickly plucked them from the display and brought them to the front. If any of you have seen my Sephora hauls, you`ll probably remember that I`ve mentioned Viggle is the app I use to get all of my Sephora giftcards; well, Viggle also offers CVS giftcards so I picked up a few of those just to knock down the price of these palettes.
> $19.99 x 2 = $39.98 for both palettes >.<
> $5 off $15 coupon at CVS = $34.98
> 20% entire purchase CVS coupon = $27.98
> $5 ExtraCare Bucks from CVS = $22.98
> $1 L`Oreal manufacturer`s coupon = $21.98
> $20 worth of CVS giftcards from Viggle = $1.98
> GRAND TOTAL WITH TAX = $4.27
I also received a $5 ECB back by spending $15 on L`Oreal for that week so it was like getting these two palettes for FREE!
La Nudes #1 is the warmer of the two palettes and features 10 shadows housed in sleek black packaging with a clear window on top so you can see the shades. Inside there is a slim bar mirror, the shadows, and a well with a double ended applicator (sponge tip and brush).
La Nudes #1:
- yellow based cream with sparkle
- shimmery golden peach
- matte medium orange-brown
- shimmery goldenrod
- matte medium yellow-toned brown
- matte medium chocolate brown
- shimmery bronze
- satiny chocolate
- shimmery taupe
- shimmery champagne
I`ve used this palette a couple of times and am pleasantly surprised that this works really nicely. Eyeshadow primer is a must whenever I wear eyeshadow because they won`t stay put otherwise, and these show up well over UDPP. The only thing I wish this palette had was a matte black. I have plenty of matte blacks in other palettes, but I wish this one had one just to help create more contrast and depth.
La Nude #2 is the cooler toned palette and leans more in the purple/pink/mauve direction as opposed to cooler neutrals. As opposed to the first palette, this one has more matte shades. The packaging is the same as the La Nude #1.
La Nude #2:
- shimmery light pink
- shimmery rose gold
- matte grey-mauve
- matte cool-toned brown
- satiny taupe brown
- matte red-toned brown
- shimmery chocolate brown
- matte pink
- matte medium mauve purple
- matte plum
I haven`t had the chance to try this one yet, but it sounds promising based on the YouTube videos I`ve seen.
Thanks for reading! Have you tried out these palettes yet? What do you think?
