This is a necklace that I handmade. I`ve made several pieces over the years, but I bought this dichroic glass pendant probably about two years ago. I put it away for a rainy day for when I finally figured out how I wanted to use it. The idea/design to use it with came to me about three months ago, before the spring/semester of school started. I paired the pendant with white fresh water pearls and multiple colors of Swarovski Crystals in a few different sizes. I absolutely love how it turned out. I have yet to post it on my website for sale, because I`m torn between selling it and/or keeping it.
Every few months, my aunt and I will go to jewelry supply shows together and purchase rare and unique pieces, like beads, stringing supplies, crystals, etc. It is so much fun! She is very girly, just like me, and we get along great. She loves jewelry just as much as I do, too. We talk about rolling around in pools full of crystals and pearls, like two school age girls. It`s quite funny. She usually buys more of the pre-made pieces that some jewelers sell there, while I purchase the supplies. You can find anything from bone, wood, crystals of all kinds, stones, and metal beads there. I bring all of my treasures home, separate them into my supply cases and usually make a few pieces right away after being so inspired all day. I`m as addicted to purchasing supplies for my handmade jewelry, as I am addicted to buying shoes, handbags and clothes.
I`ve had a deep love of arts and crafts since I was a child, so it`s only natural that it carried on into my adulthood. At 7 years of age, I was hand making Native American themed dolls with my grandmother (I have Native American ancestry on both sides of my family, so this is why the dolls were usually Native American themed). I have a very fond memory of spending weekend after weekend at my grandmother`s house to make one special doll that I gave to my fifth grade teacher in elementary school. Yes, I`m a nerd and different but oh well. :) I hope you all enjoy!
