When I saw that Edys had come out with a limited edition Samoas ice cream, I KNEW I had to find it and give it a home in my freezer. Never mind the fact I already half a half gallon of fat free vanilla ice cream and a half a box of ice cream sandwiches, this ice cream needed to come home with me. And guess what? It did!
So what is so fabulous about this ice cream? Well, its got Samoa cookies in it which if you are not familiar is a Girls Scout cookie which is just plain deliciousness in a little purple box. The cookie itself is a plain cookie base which is then covered in caramel, coconut and chocolate. Deliciousness. I love Samoas a little too much and since I for the life of me did not find ANY Girl Scouts out selling cookies, the ice cream was the only way I was going to sneak it in.
The Samoas ice cream is a vanilla base, which has tiny minced up pieces of the cookie mixed into the ice cream. The pieces are very fine, so you will not find a huge honking piece of cookie in there. But you do taste the flavor of the cookie itself. Since the ice cream is frozen, the cookie loses its general softness and becomes a bit hard but thats expected since its been frozen. But you do taste the grittiness of the coconut, while you also get the coconut flavor. You can taste the chocolate and you can also taste the caramel. Its certainly a nice treat and one that I enjoyed. My boyfriend had a bowl as well and he said it was good.
Overall I enjoyed it and would repurchase again if this is still available when we finish the half gallon container.
Have you tried the Samoas ice cream by Edys?
What is your favorite Girl Scouts cookie?
