So recently I decided I wanted to make a drastic change, so I went blonde. Not sure if it was too drastic, but I liked the ending results... but here`s what I did if you want to go blonde...and yes I did dye my own hair, and I don`t go to salons for dye jobs (:
First, I don`t recommend taking such a drastic change if you can`t keep up with the maintenance. I had dark brown hair so I had to bleach my hair to get platinum blonde hair. Also, if you`re not careful, bleach will burn your hair. If done right, you should be able to keep a healthy head of hair.
What I used:
L`oreal Quick Blue Bleach
Ion Permanent Hair Color in Ash Blonde
Pure White 30 Developer (some use 40, but it`s pretty harsh for your hair)
What I did:
I actually had to bleach my hair three times...I bleached it twice in one night and then a third time the next night. After bleaching, your hair will look like a yellowy orange... you want your hair as yellow as you can get it. I don`t recommend bleaching it more than 3 times...and if you`re unsure, then bleach your hair in sessions (once every 2 weeks), if you have the time.
After the bleach, you`ll have to use a toner to get rid of that yellowy orange color. I used a hair dye in the color ash blonde. You can do this step with wet or dry hair.
After all this hair coloring, you will want to make sure you condition and take care of your hair really well. I also use macadamia oil help the drying effect of bleach, and Aussie 3 minute conditioner to restore moisture and repair damage done to my hair. I`ve also ordered some Macadamia hair mask since I did bleach my hair a lot.
Let me know if you have any questions!
