If you would like to have an account online where you can store all your essential files and then acess them anywhere or just upload photos from your phone to your own online hard-drive (cloud), Dropbox is offering you the change to get up to 5gb of free space in your account.
But, instead of paying for them, they will give you in case you participate in their beta phase of the new features by uploading a file, like a photo, more than once and for each photo you upload you get 500mb until you reach 5GB and then you won`t collect anymore space.
This is their way of getting users to their service and at the same time test it and look for bugs on it, so its very cleaver way to do it actually.
I have used the dropbox app and the service before i do have some GB of space but im not sure why but if you are looking to upgrade or joining now, this would be a good way to get some good space for your account.
The service can be helpful in case you want to share files or are going to use other computers to work on and don`t have a flash drive.
I would say give it a try.
Have you use dropbox or any other kind of cloud services? Would you or do you worry about the safety of the files?
