I rarely watch foreign films but I`ll make an exception for Zenne. The film out of Turkey is loosely based on a true story where a father commits the first known "honor killing" of his son, because he is gay. (The son is gay, not the father, just to be clear!)
Now Turkey if you don`t know is a predominantly muslim country, which of course in their religion like most religion frowns about homosexual relationships.
From the source below:
"After he was killed, the family did not claim Yildiz`s body for a proper Islamic burial -- an indication of the deep shame the family felt and that they had ceased to consider him one of their own. He was buried instead in a "cemetery for the nameless."
What a powerful and tear jerking movie. I hope it comes to the states soon with English subtitles. It has already won numerous awards in Turkey.
WOULD you watch this film?
