I was at work this past week when I stopped in at an Extreme Pita nearby. I just wanted a snack, so I got these Fresh Baked Pita chips with Jalapeño Cheddar flavouring.
Now, I really like pita chips (especially made from whole-wheat pitas) because they are healthy and are baked, not fried. These ones were pretty good! They sort of tasted like Doritos, except that they had less seasoning on them. They were pretty spicy, as well (a bit too much so for my tastes). They weren`t "fresh baked", as they were a day past the best-before date (lol), but they still tasted perfectly fine, and were still really crunchy. Oh, and they were less than $1.50, which isn`t a bad price, in my opinion.
In terms of nutrition, a 45g bag of the plain variety is about 115 calories, which is perfect for a snack. It`s also got a bit of fibre in it, so yay! :) I`m guessing the Jalapeño Cheddar variety is a bit higher in calories, but probably not by much, as there was only a light dusting of the seasoning on the chips.
I probably won`t get this flavour next time, as it was a bit too spicy for me. The other varieties (aside from Plain) are Cinnamon, Garlic, and Chili Lime. I think I`d like any of those flavours much more than the Jalapeño Cheddar variety. And hey, if I`m craving them, I can always make my own, which is actually super-easy to do! :)
