After seeing so many post about having French macaroons, I just had to go and try them out for myself. Everyone raved about how great these are and being such a big sweet tooth person myself, I knew I had to give these a go.
Unfortunately, in my small-big town, there was only ONE bakery that sold them on a daily basis.. the Frosted Cakery. And they didn`t have a huge variety either, unfortunately. They have weekly flavors and this week`s specials were Raspberry (left) and Purple Velvet (right).
I was so so sad that I didn`t end up loving these. Considering how crazy everyone was about them, I just found them to be too sweet for me. I could seriously eat cupcakes all day long, but one macaroon pretty much did it for me. I`m not sure if it`s because of the flavors I got that made them so sweet, or if they`re normally this sweet, but I just didn`t love them. /=
I don`t totally hate them, I was just expecting them to taste a little better. I felt like they were just full of sugar. )= Sorry! Maybe I`ll give them another try at a more popular place that`s more known for macaroons when and if I`m ever near another place that sells them..
Also, these were quite expensive! I paid $2.50 per macaroon! Yes, it was $15 just for these 6 macaroons! Can`t believe it!!
If you guys know of any places in Orange County that sells them, please share!! I would love to try some more the next time I`m in Southern California.
