So last weekend me, the man, and two of his lady coworkers went down to Calgary to run the 5 Peaks Enduro 10K race. This race took place at Canada Olympic Park and the trail included double track, forest trails, & ski runs. The uphill action was the most uncool portion. I walked up a few of those hills because they were hard and just gave it my all going down hill lol. It took me 1 hour and 25 minutes to finish the race and I wasn`t doing it for time, I was doing it so I wouldn`t be left out. But I found out his two coworkers quit after one lap what jerks lol. The bad part about the race was the finish tent had a table set up for the Random Prize Drawings, so when I had finished my race I ran into the tent and was like hey I am 9810 I won something and I failed to friggin cross the end of the tent to "finish" according to them ughh so I am not listed as someone who completed the race but I did lol. I had won the Salomon Ecuador 98 shoes which are worth $150 CND so my $40 entry fee was so worth it. I am angry that I was not recorded as someone who finished the race even though I would`ve been second last.
What I also received was a 5 Peaks gym bag and I also picked up two vanilla and two chocolate Clif carb gel things. Those things taste horrible and they are thick like molasses never buy them. Stick to the berry ones. I also got a tiger balm and that was nice to use on my knees and right ankle afterwards.
I will usually run an hour to hour and a half on weekends on cement and grass and the only thing that bothers me from time to time is my ankle which I broke when I was younger. This race made me hurt in ways I have never hurt before. The evening after the race just my knees and my right ankle were sore, which I expected as running is hard on the knees. I had rubbed tiger balm and sat in a hot tub for 20 minutes after we got back to our hotel in Banff. The next morning holy moly geebus, my quad muscles were aching so bad I could barely walk down stairs or even up. I then took an ibuprofen for inflammation at breakfast. The quad pain lasted two days. On Monday two days after the race, my hips started to hurt and hurt until Wednesday. The soreness came in waves lol. Now I am recovered and I started working out on Thursday again and got one run in this weekend but it was only a 35 minute one.
Have you ever hurt like that from running?
Have you experienced soreness from physically activity in different areas on different days?
You like my new kicks? I do they are super comfy more comfy than the Merrell ones I bought :)
