The Forza franchise has been very popular since it`s first release on the Xbox console, bringing the track into the hands of gamers. The detail of the franchise, getting more and more realistic from Forza Motorsport to Forza Motorsport 4, has been getting more and more massive. With each game, the simulation felt more powerful and real, pulling the player into the Forza Community. Then came Forza Horizon, a new take on the franchise. With help from Playground Games, Turn 10 Games and Microsoft were set out to create a game that met the standards of both professional racers and street racers altogether. The thought of a festival in which players can take part in racers was perfect.
Though this was a big change from all other previous games, the team didn`t do any very drastic changes to the feel of racing in the game. First off, they did changes to the driving engine. In Forza Motorsport 3, the driving was more loose and slick, though in Forza Motorsport 4, it became a bit easier to get around a turn with no assists on. This made the driving feel a bit "sticky". In Forza Horizon they increased the "stickiness", giving a new driver more comfort when driving.
Secondly, there is a lack of cars. in Forza Motorsport 4, there are 600+ cars to drive. The shift to Forza Horizon left us with just over 160. This is INCLUDING the October, November, December, January, and Rally car packs. Hopefully the Playground Games team gives us more this upcoming season.
With the combined properties, physics engine, and details of the game, I would give it an 8/10. Great game, really promote buying it.
