Sorry for the late post but I really wanted to share this adorable cake we gave my mom for mothers day.
This was the Mr.`s design but I definitely do not bake this! One of his good friends is a baker at a filipino bakery in Seattle. He told him his concept for the cake and his friend came up with this.
My mom loves flowers and she always has a ton of house plants. Which is funny because I have only one plant, an aloe plant, and it`s barely holding on to dear life. I did not inherent my mom`s (and dad`s) green thumb.
The filling of the cake was macapuno, which is a popular flavor/ingredient in Filipino deserts. It`s tastes like sweet coconut. Well, it is a coconut, but different. I have know idea how to explain it! But it tastes good!
To cut the cake, we had to peel off the "pot", that`s why I took as many pictures of it as I could.
What do you think? And if you could explain what macapuno is... please do!
*pictures are mine. please do not use.
