First Experience at Spa Lady

After being such a lazy student for the past 7 or so months, I decided that it was time to finally start working out. To tell you the truth, I am not a huge fan of working out mainly because I think its boring, and I never find time to work out. I know its really bad, but I am trying to continue exercising starting today at least I hope so. Previously, I had a membership at another gym, but I decided to give Spa Lady a shot, since many of my friends go there. And another thing I like is that its only for women. I just feel more comfortable in an environment where its only women, meaning that there are no creeping men looking at you while you stretch, run, etc.

When I first went it, a personal trainer was there to assist me. She handed me a card where I filled out my history of health, what my goals were, etc. Also on the chart, she recorded my measurements and weight. The card is meant to keep record of your progress, which I really like. So you can see if you have improved or not. Also, you record what exercises you did and how many reps of each you did.

The personal trainer asked what I wanted to focus on today and I told her abs. She then showed me how to properly use and do each exercise with various equipment. I like how its one on one, so I know how to properly do each movement without injuries and use the machines properly. Oh man were they ever tough to do; the abs machine killed me! She then showed me around the gym, explaining what each section has, etc. The trainer also explained group classes (included in membership so no extra fees) they offered, such as yoga, zumba, pilates, etc. I was sweating at the end of the workout.

After the work out, she asked me more detailed questions about my goals in exercising and other health related questions. She then explained what type of membership Spa Lady offered. Honestly, what I disliked about their memberships is that its contract based. You can sign up for 1 year, 2 years or 3 years. The more years you chose, the cheaper the membership; its a constant monthly fee. And there would be a cancellation fee if you did not complete the remaining years. I seriously hate contacts! But since many of my friends go there, I thought why not and signed up for 2 years! I really do enjoy the atmosphere that they have to offer, but the contract sucks! At least I am helping my friends get 6 months free.

Do you have a gym membership? What gym do you join?
