No too long ago my family and I had dinner out at this new local Filipino restaurant. Being that we are Filipino its rare that we actually go out to eat at a Filipino restaurant just cause I find that its not that great and also I have Filipino food often. My family and I kept hearing about this place and how its pretty good so we decided to check it out. They offer and serve individual dishes but we decided to go with what the restaurant is popular for which is their Sulit Bilao. I dont know what that exactly translates to but its basically all sorts of different kinds of food all served on this big traditional woven tray lined with banana leaves. Its really cool how the food is served since everything is all on one tray for everyone and you just help yourself to what you want with a serving spoon to your plate. There are 4 different types of these food trays or I should say 4 different variations that you can choose from but ours had different types of grilled fish and meats, prawn crackers, longanisa (pork sausage), grilled squid, chicharon, crispy pork, lumpia (eggrolls), rice, hard boiled eggs and chopped tomatoes and mangoes. Its not pictured but this also came with soup. At first I thought it wouldn`t be enough food for the six of us but It actually was just the right amount for all of us to try a little bit of everything. The food was really good I especially liked the grilled fish but of course we had to order dessert so we ordered two halo-halos which is like a Filipino shaved ice with ice cream and evaporated milk mixed with jellies, sweet beans, tapioca, fruits, coconut and more. Its was pretty big so we all just shared 2 but it was really good! Probably one of the better Halo Halos that Ive had in a while.
