For those of you who don`t know what FCE is, FCE is an intermediate level Cambridge ESOL exam, at level B2 of the Council of Europe`s Common European Framework. Learners at this level can expect to be able to work or study in an English speaking environment and cope easily as tourists in an English speaking country. This certificate is widely accepted for commercial and preliminary academic purposes in the UK and throughout the world.
A couple of years ago I did another exam: PET which is the Preliminary English Test. It went really well and I passed with merit (YEAAAH!) so after talking with my teacher and my parents I decided to do the next exam since I`ve been learning english for the longest time and I`m kind of good at it. A down side of this type of exams is that they are expensive. The PET cost me 90 and the FCE cost 176 which obviously is A LOT so I don`t really want to fail, right? To pass the exam you have to have not more than 50% which is the usual grade to pass but more than 65% if I`m right.
The Speaking is done in a different day of the other sections (Reading, Writing, Use of English and Listening). Today I had my Speaking. I had to go to Oporto to do it. Also the speaking is done in pairs so I went with my partner, other pair of students and my english teacher. The man and the woman who were evaluating owr speaking were both very nice and kind with us. I think overall I did great and I`m going to pass. Of course there were some thing I regret saying or not saying but oh well it`s done I can`t do anything to change now.
Next Sunday I`m going to do all of the other sections. That takes all day. I really hope it goes well! If this exam goes well in a couple of year I might do the CAE :) Wish me luck!!!
The test consists of five sections:
- Use of English
- Speaking (DONE!)
- HAVE YOU EVER DONE ANY OF THIS EXAMS?
- WOULD YOU LIKE TO?
