I was leaving the mall earlier this week, heading home to grab some food when I drove by a newly opened Fatburger location. I have. Had Fatburger once before, on a trip to LA, but I had never seen any locations in Toronto before.
I couldn`t resist going in to see if it was as good as I remember it. I ordered a `Baby Fatburger` which is basically one patty, and decided to pair it with some poutine. The larger the burger, the more patties they add to it.
The burger is actually really good, cooked on a flat top, and generously seasoned. In fact, maybe a little to generously - I love salt, but the meat was really salty on one side, so I think they added a bit too much. I also loved that they have a nice grainy mustard so I added that to my burger along with lettuce, tomato and pickles.
The poutine was like most fast food poutine places - nothing to right home about, but definitely decent. I would have preferred if they used real cheese curds, but it seems like they just used chucks of mozzarella. The gravy they used was actually pretty good - not overprocessed like the one`s you usually find.
I like when food chains from the US find their way up north. Fatburger is definitely a good one, with their food made to order which is nice to see. They also had wings and other options to try so I`m curious to go back and try more of their menu.
Also, random side note: have you guys seen the new Heinz ketchup packets? They hold three times as much ketchup in them so you dont need to hoard a bunch to get enough ketchup! LOL
