So for the past 6 weeks I have been working at the greatest summer camp in the entire world! Fairview Lake YMCA is located in New Jersey and to me is like a second home. It`s a sleep-away camp that also has year round family events. If you are interested I would love to tell you all about it!
*established in 1915 on old Lene Lenape land
*You live in a cabin in your unit
*The Units: Minisink (co-ed ages 7-9), Laurel Ridge (girls ages 10-15), and Kittatinny (boys ages 10-15)
*Each session is 3 weeks w/ one visiting day
*Minisinkers can go for 1, 2, or 3 weeks or more if they want to
*Each day you sign up for 4 different activities such as archery, windsurfing, arts and crafts, and the camp play and then everyday you have free time and swim lessons in the lake.
*Color War: color war happens once a summer and it`s like a campwide fiercly intense and fun theme day. You have not had camp until you have had color war. The camp is split into 2 teams, the Sioux (my team) and the Mohawk (they won this year) and they do sporting and creative events for 48 hours in competition for the tomahawk. It`s so much fun!
*When you come to this camp the people become like a family to you and I think that`s what makes this camp amazing.
If you are interested in sending your child to camp this camp should definitely be a consideration. We have campers and staff who come from all over the country and from other countries such as England, Turkey, Portugal, and Spain. I am a Minisink counselor so if you have any questions just ask me :)
