If you have the Facebook app downloaded onto your smartphone, you may find that Facebook has been accessing and reading your SMS text messages. Don`t believe me? At first it was just a rumor, but Facebook has responded and their answer is less than pleasing. To sum it up, they DO NOT read your texts, but they have the ability to do it.
I don`t really trust that Facebook has not been reading our texts. It is stated clearly on the permissions to "allow application to read SMS messages stored on your device or SIM card."
ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?! After I heard about the initial rumor, I deleted the app off right away. And then I got a text message from Facebook asking for permission to use my mobile number. First of all, I never gave them my mobile number. And secondly, they shouldn`t be texting me after I delete the app off my iPhone.
Facebook has been getting kind of ridiculous as of late with their privacy settings, or lack there of really. I truly dislike Mark Zuckerberg for invading my privacy. I don`t use my Facebook often, but I cannot bring myself to deactivate it because that is how I connect with old friends from middle school or high school who have gone to different colleges.
What do you think about Facebook having permission to read your texts and picture messages?
Do you like or hate Facebook?
