This past fall and winter, Bahama Mama got quite a bit of attention. A lot of people wore it and raved about it. I have really loved this polish for a while now, but realized I didn`t have a post up on it! ::shock, horror!:: I had to fix that because, truly, this is a polish worth featuring. Essie describes Bahama Mama as a warm, rich, creamy deep plum. I have to agree. Plum fits the bill. It is a deep plum that crosses somewhere between a creme and a jelly. It isn`t quite either of them. At least not 100%, in my opinion. My understanding is that Bahama Mama first came out in 2007 as a summer collection color. It seems rather deep for a typical warm-weather kind of shade. But, to each their own, right? I prefer this polish when the weather turns a bit cooler. Bahama mama is now in their core collection of polishes, so it is easy to come by, no matter the season. The application wasn`t the very best with this one. It certainly wasn`t horrid, but also not a simple one-coater-and-go kind of polish. The first coat was very sheer and patchy. There were a lot of streaks that just had to have some layering to hide. The second coat evened things up for most of the nails, however, a few still needed a third. If you do very, very thin layers, I think you`ll have to do 3 coats to get an even and opaque finish. If you put on one thin and a second slightly thicker, I think you may be able to get away with two. I am wearing one coat of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails, (mostly) two coats of Essie Bahama Mama, and one coat of Seche Vite. As a last minute decision I decided to grab a lavender heart out of my rhinestone wheel to stick onto the ring finger. There are no other designs or gems on my nails. Something about the simplicity of a single heart, though, I loved.
