I spotted a display for some vegan chocolate bars yesterday, and decided to check them out. I am by no means vegan, though I do like to switch my diet up quite frequently (in a healthier direction, if possible!).
I had never heard of or seen Eli`s Earth Bars before, but they seemed yummy, so I bought one to try. It was $3, and the flavour I chose was called "Dream Big". It had peanuts, peanut butter, and caramel, with a milk chocolate coating. Apparently, these chocolate bars are not only vegan, but organic and fair-trade, as well. AND, they donate 5% of proceeds to children`s charities. So, this chocolate bar is good, in more ways than one! XD
The ingredients of this chocolate bar are a lot better than most chocolate bars: organic dairy-free milk chocolate (organic rice milk, organic evaporated cane juice, organic cocoa butter, organic cocoa paste, organic non-GMO soy lecithin, organic vanilla), organic peanuts, organic rice syrup, sea salt. Not bad, right? One Dream Big bar is 220 calories, which is the same as many other chocolate bars. While I wouldn`t say that these bars are "nutritious", they certainly are healthier than most other candy bars out there.
I think that I will definitely be purchasing some more of these chocolate bars in the future. Eli`s also makes a vegan version of Butterfinger and Almond Joy, apparently! I might just buy a box online, if I can find them for cheaper than $3 a piece, and stash them away for when I have a craving for them! XD
