This brush shampoo is $3, and is intended for cleaning and disinfecting your makeup brushes. Here`s the description from the e.l.f. website:
"An anti-bacterial brush cleanser for thorough cleaning in-between makeup applications. Disinfects brushes to provide a fresh and clean application every time. Washes away traces of dirt, makeup, oil and debris from your brush while conditioning the hair to provide a clean and soft application for every use."
So, I wasn`t expecting to love this brush shampoo, but I do! It gets all the makeup out of my brushes, regardless of the type of brush or what kind of makeup I used. I even used it to clean a brush that I`d used to apply a SUPER pigmented black eyeliner, and all the pigment came out! I was wowed! In addition, it leaves my brushes really soft and conditioned afterwards.
I have been reading reviews of this product, however, and some people have been complaining that this brush shampoo DOESN`T clean their brushes, so I`m wondering if there`s a quality control issue here. In addition, some people mentioned hating the smell of it. I notice a slight scent to it if I make a point of sniffing it, but it`s super mild to me. Still other people have said that this product works, but that dish soap mixed with olive oil is way cheaper and works better.
I`m kind of torn! I like this product, but I do go through it kind of fast. Even if it is only $3, I do end up wasting some of it due to the packaging. To clean my brushes, I just put some of the shampoo in the palm of my hand, get my brush wet, and then swirl the brush in the shampoo. The container makes it hard to control the amount of product that comes out, so that`s a bit annoying. It`s hard to get the product out at first, but then it comes out all at once...lol.
While I do really like the brush shampoo itself, I`m wondering if dish soap and olive oil WOULD be better, and it is most certainly cheaper. I think I will probably try that first, and see if I do like it better than this brush shampoo.
