Today I have a review on the ELF Essential Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick, a newer product they released a few months ago. These lippies are $2 ea and come in 8 shades from sheer pinks to reds. I was hoping these were more like hydrating lipsticks - like the popular ones we`ve been seeing in the drugstores lately. Unfortunately, they are not as long lasting as you`d think. The twist up lip stick applies with a minty "just flossed" flavor and scent, a sheer wash of color on the lips and a beautiful "just applied balm" shine. After a few minutes of wear the product still felt slick and was noticeably collecting in the corners of my lips and the disappearing from the inner half of my lips. For each shade swatched, I took a photo just 5 minutes after applying to show how quickly the color pulls away from the inner lip areas. In person, it is pretty noticeable and quite embarrassing as the product eventually wears away but stays at my lips lines - similar to the over-lined lips look of the 90`s.
Movie Star - looks like a bright red - wear like a sheer cherry. The color was very underwhelming as I thought it would transfer bolder like it looks in the stick, but if you`re more into sheer reds this would be a good shade to try out. The coverage was inconsistent and the formula kept migrating on my lips.
Sangria Starters - looks like a deep wine - wears like a sheer raisin. I didn`t really like the color, Sangria to me is a deeper wine shade, but this wore pretty brown toned. The coverage was patchy, migrated to the corners of my mouth and the color was coming off the inner portions of my lips.
Flirty & Girly - looks like a glittery fuchsia - wears like a glittery soft pink. I like the color and the shine, but I did not like the gritty glitter bits or that the color kept coming off the inner half of my lips. This one left a LOT of glitter remnants behind.
If you are looking for sheer color and a little hydration, I would first recommend the ELF Studio Conditioning Lip Balm SPF 15, as I feel those are the perfect combination of conditioning and color tint. These lip gloss sticks are okay, but I wouldn`t repurchase them or even try more shades.
