ELF (Eyes Lips Face) has recently added the EX-tra Lip Glosses to their Essential line, these are $2.00 each and come in six wearable shades. Starting off with the packaging, it is standard Essential line quality, lightweight plastic, white tops and clear tubes to see the lipgloss color inside. The wands have a pinched sponge tip, with two flat sides, easy to use for a precise application.
These glosses are much more pigmented than I expected, the Essential lip glosses are usually sheer and very thin in formula. The EX-tra glosses have a lightweight creamy consistency, each shade has a very subtle shimmer, when worn I can feel the slightest texture from the micro shimmers. These EX-tra glosses are surprisingly moisturizing, even after the gloss fades away, my lips feel smooth and hydrated - most glosses will dry out my lips and cause peeling (which is why I`m not normally a gloss fan). The glosses all have a faint vanilla scent, except for Michael and Brett, those have a fruitier vibe to them (the scent doesn`t linger with wear). I did notice that once the glosses are removed or fade away, there are some sparkly shimmers left behind, but they are not permanent and can easily be wiped away.
The shade selection is very smart. They include a beige nude, some light pinks, a light coral, a red coral and a berry. I love that they did at least one good shade for everyone. Naturally my lip tone is darker, so the 3 lighter shades don`t do well on me, but the other 3 shades are my favorites. I really do hope they are concocting more shades to add to the Ex-tra gloss line, maybe a hot pink or some vampy deep tones?? :)
Brian, creamy baby pink with subtle silver shimmer
Scott, creamy tan nude with subtle golden shimmer
Marc, creamy light pink with subtle silver shimmer
Joe, creamy light peach with subtle golden shimmer
Michael, creamy berry with subtle golden shimmer
Brett, creamy orange toned red with pink and golden shimmer
