E.l.f. Duo Eye Shadow Creams in Coffee amp Cream and Black Licorice

I tend to read a lot of beauty product reviews, and one product that was coming up repeatedly was e.l.f. Duo Eye Shadow Cream. I had read that these are useless as actual eyeshadows, but when used as a base for other eyeshadows (when applied over a primer, of course!), they work really well.

I had tried this product before, using it as an actual eyeshadow - this was before I had discovered the wonders of eyeshadow primer, and the results were pretty disastrous! I had also tried tightlining my lashline with the black cream shadow in the Black Licorice duo. That also did not end well! You absolutely need to use a primer with these.

Unfortunately, as I have not been wearing makeup very much lately, I haven`t had the chance to give these a proper test drive as eyeshadow bases. However, I am really happy with the pigmentation of the brown shade from the Coffee & Cream duo and the black shade from the Black Licorice duo. The shimmery white shade from Coffee & Cream is pretty, but I don`t foresee myself using it too much. I may use it as a highlighter for the inner corners of my eyelids, if anything. The grey shade from the Black Licorice duo is kind of a dud for me, as it`s not very pigmented, and light greys and silvers don`t really suit me. I may have to mix it up with some black eyeshadow to make an eyeliner out of it, or something like that!

At $1, these are worth a try, if anything. You might find that you really like this product as an eyeshadow base (which is something I haven`t determined for myself yet!), or you might find some other use for it. Then again, you might just toss it! But since it`s so cheap, it can hardly hurt to try. :)
